Powerware 9315 UPS — Service, Battery & Migration Canada

⚠ EOSL — Discontinued but fully serviceable

Powerware 9315 —
Service, Battery & Migration Canada

The Powerware 9315 is a legacy three-phase online double-conversion UPS from the pre-Eaton Powerware era, covering 10 to 160 kVA. Discontinued for over a decade, the 9315 remains in active service across Canadian government, hospital, and university facilities. We provide battery string replacement, capacitor and fan service, and migration cost-benefit analysis to current-generation 93PM or 9PX platforms.

Eaton Service Canada is an independent service provider — not affiliated with Eaton Corporation®

⚠️ EOSL status: The Powerware 9315 has been discontinued for over 10 years. Eaton no longer provides OEM service or parts. Battery strings, fans, and most control boards remain available through independent suppliers. However, inverter IGBTs, SCR assemblies, and some logic boards are becoming scarce. If your 9315 is experiencing component failures beyond batteries, a migration assessment is strongly recommended.

What we can still service

🔋 Available Service & Parts

Despite EOSL status, most 9315 components remain serviceable through our independent supply chain:

  • Battery strings — full replacement with OEM-compatible VRLA cells
  • Cooling fans — standard industrial replacements available
  • DC capacitors — testing and replacement (critical at 10+ years)
  • Control boards — available but supply is limited; we recommend sparing
  • Static bypass switch — service and contact replacement

Parts at risk: Inverter IGBT modules, SCR thyristor assemblies, and proprietary logic boards are becoming scarce. If your 9315 experiences an inverter failure, repair may not be cost-effective. Contact us for a pre-failure migration assessment.

FAQ

Powerware 9315 questions

Is the Powerware 9315 still serviceable?
Yes, with limitations. Batteries, fans, capacitors, and most control boards are still available through independent supply chains. However, inverter IGBT modules and some proprietary logic boards are becoming scarce. We service 9315 systems across Canada and provide a written assessment of remaining useful life and parts availability for your specific unit.
Should I keep maintaining my 9315 or replace it?
It depends on your unit’s age and component condition. If your 9315 has had capacitors replaced within the last 5 years and the inverter is healthy, continued battery replacement may be cost-effective for another 3–5 years. If capacitors are original (10+ years), or if you’ve had any inverter faults, migration planning should begin now. We provide a written cost-benefit comparison for your specific installation.
What replaces the Powerware 9315?
For 9315 units under 200 kW, the Eaton 93PM (modular three-phase) is the direct replacement — modular architecture, better efficiency, smaller footprint. For 9315 units above 200 kVA, the Eaton 9395P provides similar monolithic architecture with modern electronics. For small 9315 installations (10–20 kVA), the load may now fit a single-phase 9PX, significantly reducing complexity and cost.
Can you source 9315 batteries in Canada?
Yes. We stock OEM-compatible VRLA battery cells for all 9315 configurations. Battery string replacement includes delivery, installation, load testing, old battery removal, and environmental disposal. Typical turnaround is 5–10 business days from quote acceptance.
Do you service 9315 systems in government and hospital facilities?
Yes. The Powerware 9315 was one of the most widely deployed three-phase UPS platforms in Canadian government and healthcare during the 2000s. Many remain in service. We hold active federal contracts and service 9315 units in secure government facilities, hospitals, and universities across Canada.
