Battery & Power Modules

Battery strings & service for 93PM

🔋 Battery String Replacement + Module Service

The 93PM uses external battery cabinets with VRLA battery strings. Battery life is 3–5 years depending on ambient temperature and discharge frequency. At three-phase loads, thermal management of the battery room is critical.

Hot-swappable power modules: The 93PM’s modular architecture means failed power modules can be replaced without shutting down the protected load. This is the key advantage over non-modular three-phase UPS platforms — no maintenance bypass required for module-level service.

Service scope: Battery string replacement, power module diagnostics and swap, fan assembly replacement, DC capacitor testing (critical at 7+ years), firmware updates, and preventive maintenance contracts with quarterly or semi-annual visits.

FAQ

Eaton 93PM questions

Can 93PM power modules be replaced without downtime?
Yes. The 93PM’s modular architecture allows hot-swappable power modules — a failed or end-of-life module can be removed and replaced while the remaining modules continue protecting the load. This is the defining advantage of the 93PM over non-modular three-phase UPS platforms like the Eaton 9395. No maintenance bypass required for module-level service.
How often should 93PM batteries be replaced?
VRLA battery strings in the 93PM typically last 3–5 years depending on ambient temperature and discharge events. At three-phase loads, batteries discharge more deeply per event than single-phase, accelerating wear. We recommend impedance testing at 2.5 years and proactive replacement at 3–4 years for mission-critical installations. The 93PM G2 also supports lithium-ion batteries with 10+ year design life.
93PM vs 9395P — which should I choose?
The 93PM is modular (15/25/50 kW hot-swappable modules) and scales from 15–200+ kW. The 9395P is monolithic (200–1,200 kW) for large-capacity installations. If you need modular redundancy, pay-as-you-grow scalability, and hot-swap module service, the 93PM is the right platform. If you need 200+ kW in a single frame without modular architecture, the 9395P is the choice.
Can you install a new 93PM in a Canadian data centre?
Yes. We quote the unit, delivery, rigging, electrical installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance as a single project. For data centre environments, we coordinate with your facilities team, MEP engineer, and NOC for scheduled installation windows. Three-phase installation requires coordination with a licensed electrician — we manage the entire process.
Do you service 93PM systems in government secure facilities?
Yes. We hold active federal contracts including the House of Commons and service Eaton 93PM systems in federal government data centres, DND facilities, and provincial government installations. Our technicians undergo security clearance processes and comply with facility-specific access protocols.
