Why BladeUPS? Unlike traditional UPS where the entire unit must be sized for peak load, the BladeUPS lets you start at 12 kVA and add 12 kVA blades as your data centre grows. Each blade is hot-swappable — add capacity or replace a failed blade without downtime. This pay-as-you-grow model reduces upfront capital and provides built-in N+1 redundancy.

Battery & Blade Service

Battery blades & service for BladeUPS

🔋 Hot-Swap Battery Blades

Each power blade has a matching battery blade that slides into the chassis. Battery blades are hot-swappable — pull the old one out, slide the new one in. No downtime, no tools, no shutdown of the protected load.

Service scope: Battery blade replacement, power blade diagnostics and swap, fan tray replacement, firmware updates, static bypass testing, and preventive maintenance contracts. For multi-frame parallel configurations, we coordinate blade-level service across frames to maintain N+1 throughout.

Blade-level troubleshooting: If a single power blade fails, the remaining blades continue carrying the load (assuming N+1 configuration). We diagnose at the blade level — replace only the failed component, not the entire UPS.

FAQ

Eaton BladeUPS questions

Can I add capacity to my BladeUPS without shutting down?
Yes. The BladeUPS is designed for hot-swappable capacity expansion. Each 12 kVA power blade slides into the chassis while the existing blades continue protecting the load. You can scale from 12 kVA to 60 kVA without any downtime. This is the defining feature of the BladeUPS platform.
What happens if one blade fails?
If you have an N+1 configuration (recommended), the remaining blades absorb the load of the failed blade with no interruption. The failed blade can then be replaced while the system continues running. This is why we always recommend configuring at least one extra blade beyond your peak load requirement.
BladeUPS vs 93PM — both are modular, what is the difference?
The BladeUPS is single-phase (208V) and scales to 60 kVA per frame. The 93PM is three-phase (208V or 480V) and scales to 200+ kW. If your facility runs on single-phase power distribution, the BladeUPS is the modular option. If you have three-phase distribution, the 93PM provides higher density and larger capacity.
How long do BladeUPS battery blades last?
Battery blades use VRLA cells with a typical life of 3–5 years. The BladeUPS does not use ABM charging like the 9PX/9SX, so battery life is closer to the standard 3–5 year range. We recommend impedance testing at 2.5 years and proactive replacement at 3–4 years for critical deployments.
Can you service BladeUPS systems in parallel configurations?
Yes. Up to 4 BladeUPS frames can be paralleled for system-level redundancy. We coordinate blade-level service across frames to maintain N+1 redundancy throughout the maintenance window. Battery blade replacement on one frame while the parallel frames carry the load is standard procedure.
