The Eaton 9155 manual defines a 192 VDC battery system with 16 series-connected 12 V blocks per string and 9 Ah VRLA batteries at 25 degrees C. Equipment record: Eaton 9155 15 kVA, companion identifier CSB HRL1234WFR. Decision: Restore the 9155 as a complete 192 VDC string set and judge recovery against the published 15 kVA runtime point, rather than replacing isolated blocks on alarm alone.
The 192 VDC battery path
A low-runtime or battery alarm on a 9155 can originate in age, temperature, an open connection, block imbalance, charger condition or an incorrectly declared string count. The 15 kVA frame in this worked case uses the OEM battery architecture as the diagnostic reference. The exact installed UPS-32, UPS-64 or external cabinet arrangement still has to be read from the equipment.
For Eaton 9155 15 kVA, the applicability boundary is anchored to 15 kVA, 13.5 kW and part CSB HRL1234WFR. No worked input is added to these published points. The exact equipment record still requires confirmation at the installed unit.

Figure 1. Eaton 9155 15 kVA equipment and power path
Sixteen blocks per string at 25 degrees C
The controlling numerical record is: UPS frame rating: 15 kVA; Full-load real-power point: 13.5 kW; Nominal battery string: 192 VDC; Series block count: 16 blocks/string; VRLA block capacity: 9 Ah; Published battery basis: 25 degrees C; UPS-32 full-load runtime: 4 min. Each value has a defined source or assumption status in the engineering ledger. Values from different configurations are not combined as though they came from one installed system.
| Engineering parameter | Value | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|
| UPS frame rating | 15 kVA | Published OEM value |
| Full-load real-power point | 13.5 kW | Published OEM value |
| Nominal battery string | 192 VDC | Published OEM value |
| Series block count | 16 blocks/string | Published OEM value |
| VRLA block capacity | 9 Ah | Published OEM value |
| Published battery basis | 25 degrees C | Published OEM value |
| UPS-32 full-load runtime | 4 min | Published OEM value |
Sixteen 12 V blocks produce 192 VDC nominal per string. At 15 kVA and 13.5 kW, the manual lists four minutes for the UPS-32 arrangement, while larger arrangements and external cabinets provide longer published points. The installed string count must therefore be confirmed before a runtime expectation is selected.
Published autonomy by string count
The worked check uses string voltage = 16 blocks x 12 V; full-load power factor = 13.5 kW / 15 kVA. With 16 series blocks and the published 15 kVA, 13.5 kW point, the result is 192 VDC and 0.90 output power factor. A complete string must be evaluated as a series system because one weak block limits string discharge. The arithmetic is reproducible, but it remains a design check until the listed inputs are confirmed at the equipment.
The 192 VDC and 0.90 output power factor result follows from string voltage = 16 blocks x 12 V; full-load power factor = 13.5 kW / 15 kVA. If the 13.5 kW input changes, this check is repeated rather than carrying the earlier result into a different operating state.

Why isolated block replacement was rejected
Replacing one low-voltage block can leave fifteen aged blocks in series with a new unit. Differences in capacity and internal resistance then reappear under discharge. The service basis is a matched string unless documented testing supports a different OEM-approved action.
The charger setting and declared number of strings are checked before discharge. A configuration that expects four strings but sees two, or a charger that does not reach the required float condition, can imitate premature battery ageing.
Post-work acceptance starts after recharge. The test records string current, total voltage, block spread, temperature and the selected load point. A dashboard percentage without the measurement basis does not prove the four-minute operating point.
| Path | Technical consequence | Disposition |
|---|---|---|
| Apply the stated engineering decision | Restore the 9155 as a complete 192 VDC string set and judge recovery against the published 15 kVA runtime point, rather than replacing isolated blocks on alarm alone. | Selected basis |
| Generic model substitution | Select by family name or rating alone, without confirming the exact configuration. | Not selected on the stated evidence |
| Unverified operating assumption | Treat a design assumption as though it were a site measurement. | Reconsider only if the input changes |

The Eaton 9155 15 kVA decision retains part CSB HRL1234WFR, the 192 VDC and 0.90 output power factor calculation result and the manufacturer-published 15 kVA point in one equipment record. Applicable OEM instructions, qualified electrical authority and the installed single-line or wiring record remain controlling for any executable work.
Recharge and loaded-runtime confirmation
Acceptance of Eaton 9155 15 kVA depends on five recorded checks:
- Confirm the exact 9155 15 kVA cabinet and UPS-32, UPS-64 or EBM arrangement.
- Count 16 blocks in every 192 VDC string and verify polarity and protected connections.
- Record CSB HRL1234WFR or another exact Eaton-approved installed block type and date code.
- Confirm charger configuration and recharge before the loaded test.
- Test against the approved load and compare with the applicable OEM runtime row.
The Eaton 9155 15 kVA record is not accepted if part CSB HRL1234WFR does not match, the calculation does not reproduce 192 VDC and 0.90 output power factor, or the final operating state is not recorded. The equipment returns to the approved safe state when a check stops, and the unresolved condition remains open without an invented repair result.

Recovery means a repeatable battery record
The 9155 battery alarm is resolved only when the complete string architecture, charger state and loaded result agree. The four-minute UPS-32 point is a published reference at 13.5 kW and 25 degrees C, not a universal runtime promise.
Decision rule: Restore the 9155 as a complete 192 VDC string set and judge recovery against the published 15 kVA runtime point, rather than replacing isolated blocks on alarm alone. A different model, load, voltage, battery string, software version or operating state requires a new check against the applicable manufacturer record.
